Yeah, I think I'd also be a little disappointed if shown that "sketch" above - especially since all the pro-mo shots for the Project 45 show the 20" (spirograph) wheels
 
And here's EV winter range comparison done in Norway. Korean EV's outperformed other manufacturers, with Kona only 9% below the advertised range while typical range loss in winter is 20% across EVs. Looks like main culprit is the heat pump. Korean EVs came with heat pump standard. I heard this 'revolutionary' option will become available (standard?) in Tesla soon.

I would hardly consider their narrow test condition temperature (-2C or 28F) as "winter" representative especially for Norway. Anything below -10C a heat pump's energy advantage is relatively irrelevant. At -10C a Kona EV loose 30% battery capacity, at -20C around 40%, -30C its usually more than 50%. It would be the same for all current EVs in North America market. There is no magic sauce in the batteries or electronics when it gets really cold.

As far as my impression of the Ioniq 5, I like the exterior styling and larger size compared to the Kona. I like the open flat interior. I like the potential for faster charging with their 800V system. Unfortunately very little infrastructure can support that level of charging at the moment. Tesla still has a huge advantage with its supercharger network here. Its akin to when HD TVs came on the scene, looked amazing in the show room playing the demo loop but you had very little actual HD programming available for several years.
Otherwise the interior styling does not impress and I will go as far calling it unpleasant and devoid of any appreciable definition or character. It seems like another nebulous designer attempt at defining "the future". Not having a rear wiper for the hatch is nuts. I suspect their informatics system "bluelink" still sucks.
Overall nice evolutionary improvement but that is about it. I would not be standing in line to trade my current EV for it.
 
Not a production model so some imperfections are still there, but a very nice overview inside and out.

I'm not familiar with Hyundai software normally but that UI looks fast and responsive. Only shame is that we still haven't seen the HUD in live action.

I notice the absence of a rear "parcel shelf" from all these videos.
Any idea if its been removed from these demonstrator cars just to give easier camera access shots of the interior, or if it was never intended due to the back & forth movement of the rear seats?

I have seen a video or videos showing the parcel shelf. I believe it was on the Facebook Live German video that got taken down.

I'd be willing to bet that there will be no spare wheel option. It seems hardly any EVs have or offer them (and they wouldn't have anywhere to put one anyway. The I5, for instance, has only a limited amount of space under the cargo area because of the rear motor). This makes me slightly anxious, but as long as they offer a suitable patch kit and maybe a pump like some have, it's good enough for me.

Re the missing rear wiper: That is kind of strange. The Kia EV6 (which shares the same platform and a clearly related shape) doesn't seem to have one either. I don't know much about the theory, but I'm guessing they're banking on The big spoiler forcing enough airflow over the window to keep it from getting too dirty, akin to a sedan (The rear window also seems to be more steeply angled than some other crossovers IE: the honda cr-v). Does anyone know the theory for why some cars (in general) have rear wipers and others don't?
 
I would put money down that there isn’t a spare tire option.

As far as no wiper. I really don’t get it. There has been pictures of the Ioniq 5 winter testing with snow on the rear window. As well as a dirty (dusty) rear window on highway driving in South Korea.
 
I know someone with a regular Ioniq Electric car - no rear wiper on that model either.
What about heated windscreens, got one on my Evoque & its brilliant at clearing ice & snow, but any idea if on I5?

Just looked at the PDF price list from Austria (which on the previous) page and it looks like it does not have a heated windshield. I know that if you buy the AWD version of the VW ID.4 it does. My e-Golf has one and it is nice to have.
 
The problem with losing rear wipers is that it's probably one of those decisions the aero designers pat themselves on the back for while the accountants applaud them - but in the real world much of the muck you get on your windows comes simply from rain residue while the car's sat parked up with no airflow to clear it.
 
No rear wiper is very, very close to being a deal-breaker. Unless they can absolutely prove that their window stays clean in a salty, sandy, dusty, sloppy, Canadian winter and spring...no way. It's ridiculous to put thousands of dollars of safety equipment and software onboard but not a $50 wiper assembly.

It’s one thing to clear back window with airflow, but I hope they have a wiper on the reversing camera. They are even more susceptible to water, mud, etc. Makes it hard (impossible?) to reverse out of parking spots if both window & camera are obscured.

I currently drive a Mazda3 (sedan) and the reversing camera has never really gotten appreciably dirty. If memory serves it got iced over once, but that wasn't a big deal. Ice storms make for fun times :p
