Wow. So its under the car. No idea how I would look and check without proper tools like a jack or other stuff. Don't have a garage either
If you know where to find them, you can just reach under the car and feel them. Will feel like the flat bottom of a 3x5" -ish rubber plug. Or you could use the front camera on your phone and look up under that way. They are right near the side of the car.Wow. So its under the car. Hi Danks - Where did the image you posted (that shows the bottom of the Clarity and where the body plugs go, as well as a statement about their purpose) come from? Is it part of some manual or document? Thanks
It is part of the 2018 PDI document. I'm pretty sure I got it here, but I can't find the thread with it now. I attached it.
Thanks! They did install the body plugs, but they didn't check the tire pressure. I finally got around to checking today. They were all set to 49 or 50 psi (I tested them with two different gauges). From what I've read here, they over-inflate them while the cards are being shipped. I've reduced them all to 38 and started the calibration procedure.
I noticed that document also mentions removing exterior protective "coatings." I keep finding tiny remnants of something clear on the car. At first they seem like paint damage, but then I can remove them using my fingernail. I'm guessing these might be from some coating used during shipping?

Yes, I suspect so. Mine had many small spots left even though the dealership said they really tried to remove it all. I cleaned spots of it here and there for a couple of months before I quit seeing it. Like you, when I saw it at the dealership, I thought it was paint damage. I think it is adhesive used to keep plastic on the cars for shipping?

I noticed that on the Clarity we test drove. It didn't look like adhesive to me. It is like the plastic film that covers the glass on a new phone or other such device. It peels off, but sometimes little pieces remain. I peeled a few of them off the test car. I didn't see any on the one we bought.
Unfortunately, I can't because I think it is all gone at this point. I've used spray on car wash and detailing spray a few times, and taken it off where I saw it. It did look like what Danks said. They looked like tiny pieces of somewhat stubborn clear adhesive (but maybe it was clear film with adhesive properties; they were too small to tell). My dealer was probably supposed to remove it more carefully, but they didn't do a very good job.
I think it was that or something like that.
It sounds like that may be what I was seeing. But the pieces were very tiny (as a comparison, all I can think of is that they were around the size of a very small fingernail clipping).
That's what I was seeing too. I was surprised given it looked like a paint defect on a brand new car, but when I looked more closely I could see it was more like a little piece of what some call "snot glue."
Yes, you mean kind of like that "glue" they use to stick a credit card to a piece of paper (a letter) when they mail it to you? That did come to mind.
I spoke to the service department manager at the Honda dealership (at which I bought my Clarity) this morning. He readily admitted that the tires must have been left at shipping pressure (without me even mentioning that I knew about that), and that the tiny adhesive pieces should've been removed before delivery. He also admitted that they failed to give me the the piece(s) that allow me to remove the locking lug nuts. I didn't even notice it had locking lug nuts until I checked the tire pressure.
The dealership did very good work installing all of the accessories I had installed (lighted sill plates, cargo hooks, cargo nets, body side molding and body side chrome trim). In general I'm very impressed with them. However, I'd be considerably less impressed if I had gotten stranded in the desert somewhere without the ability to remove a locking lug nut.
