We just received our Sirius XM renewal (to follow the free three months). I can't imagine any reason to do this. With the Android Auto we can listen to whatever music we want (we have a subscription), podcasts or audio books. Even when we have no cell data (which is rare) we have enough stored entertainment to get us through the dead zones.

But Sirius XM is still obvious a viable company. For those of you who will renew, what am I missing in this equation, what is the value you get from satellite radio? Thanks.
 
I'm with you, Timothy. I can't imagine spending money on Sirius XM. My preferred listening is Radio Paradise, which I can download a lossless FLAC file cache, and use no cell data. They have no ads. I choose to support Radio Paradise ($5/month) which is not nearly what it is worth.
 
They will keep calling and mailing letters to you. I think where were willing to go as low as $3 a month for a year.
 
Am I the only one who got zero days of SiriusXM included?! Not that I really use it at all but I may for the quality if available.

Good to know. Will check with the sales guy. I took the delivery of the car at around 1230 AM, so they may have missed that!

Edit : CH001 shows PREVIEW and Get Offer. Other channels play just fine, I must have been mistaken. Looks like trial was activated indeed! Thank you.

For me, it's convenience. Have had this in my cars for years and it's so much easier than trying to get an app working. It's also important that you like at least one of their stations. If not, don't subscribe. Is all about choices. :)
 
Two words: Howard Stern. Most people who seem to want XM are listening to his program.

I had Sirius for a few years when it was new and streaming to your phone was not feasible. Now, I don’t personally find it valuable. The audio quality is poor and most stations are on a very short rotation. If you listen to the live stuff like news and are frequently out of cell range, like truckers, then maybe it makes sense.

If you are willing to spend 30-60 minutes on the phone with them every year, threatening to cancel (don’t take the first offer), you can get a decent rate. Otherwise they will charge you full price as soon as whatever promotion you are on expires.
 
I've had sat radio in my last few cars, and liked it because it was commercial-free, and you could keep it on the same station(s) for road trips. As others have said, I negotiated the price down to under $100/year for the Mostly Music package.

Now that my car has bluetooth streaming and Spotify/Android Auto, I am also debating whether on not to continue after the trial period ends next week. I find that I am not listening to sat very much, and I use Audible app through Android Auto on trips.

One thing I found nice was ability to quickly provide acceptable music to other passengers whose tastes differ from mine. For example, my wife enjoys the Blend station, so I can quickly push one button and she has music she enjoys; Highway and No Shoes for daughter #1. This alone may be worth the price. :)

I'll probably let trial expire and then accept the lowest offer in a few weeks.

Absolutely with you on Radio Paradise! I can stream it unlimited with my T-Mobile plan with no hit to my data plan! Music on SiriusXM is so compressed i find it unlistenable. With other streaming options and 64gb on a thumb drive who needs satellite? Only thing I miss is Mad Dog in the afternoon
 
I have an old iPod Touch with the Radio Paradise app so yes, there should be an app in the Apple App Store - and it should work fine with Car Play
 
Count me as another fan of satellite radio music channels. I have no interest in fussing with my phone and commercial-free music on long trips is great.
 
Radio Paradise is commercial free, and has high quality files. Mixed by a human, on 8 hour segments.

At home / work, you can listen online.
 
Sadly, Sirius-XM is the only broadcast with which you can use the Clarity radio's rewind feature. My sister says her Subaru can not only rewind radio local stations, but it even keeps recording while she's shopping and the car is off!

Fortunately, I bought a lifetime subscription to Sirius many years ago, so I can listen to Howard Stern at home (that subscription can be transferred only twice so I don't want to strand it in a car that's one distracted driver away from being turned into scrap metal--a young woman who ran a stoplight and hit one our Insights last summer popped out of her car in a bathing suit with a cellphone in each hand).

You can try telling them that the offer you want is their $5/month for a year offer that you heard about here. ($60/year was heavily promoted in my e-mail in December and January). Probably their lowest price for a year. But you'll have to be sure to mark your calendar so you don't get dinged full price next year. Be sure you cancel (and renegotiate) before your deal is up. Sometimes just waiting for a month or two between yearly deals to re-enroll can pay dividends, too.
