What Ajit Pai and crew at the FCC wanted and the criminal Republicans that overturned the projections that had passed wanted is to take us back to the worst of all possible business models. Its the model where you pay a subscription and then are force fed modal ads. Subscription plus modal ads (force fed, takes up the whole screen, can't turn off) or subscription plus adds is the worst most abusive business model imaginable. It is always paired with channels too. In particular what they wanted with anti neutrality is locked in channels or the ability for businesses and employers to pay to censor. And on top of all this utter criminal crap they wanted to spy and sell people's private information- like selling the contents of people's telephone calls. And when every they would face a restriction on this criminality they would argue they they were at a competitive disadvantage (as if their balance sheets mattered at all in comparison to the public interest) as if they were providing competition when no competitive actual privacy based option was provided as an alternative to the criminality. And every time they would claim a change they would be lying and they would simply re-institute the same illegal practice and lie about it.

All we need is a precedent law and people to enforce it. Make it big. Tell Face Book or Microsoft along with the whole industry- claim to be complying with a change and we find out its no so and your board and management all go to prison for ten year, you get a 50 billion dollar fine and you forfeit 10 years of future profit- all minimums all irrevocable.
Where is the competitor that provides an alternative to their utter BS.

I am hoping that Starlink does- I don't buy that the cell density is too much in cities. Firms that don't serve the public interest should cease to exist, by having their charters yanked. For share holders don't invest in dumb criminal companies and it is your damn responsibility to know the difference or suffer the losses. When AT&T and Comcast started arguing against the public free speech rights, to me even if they were multinationals they lost their right to exist- government should and still needs to pull the plug on them and their share holders.
Ajit Pai and his crew has argued again and again that the rent seeking of people with criminal intent is the highest priority- we know what that make them. If a bureaucrat intentionally obviously, belligerently undermines he public interest there should be nothing and no statute of limitations that can protect them from full example setting incarceration.

Fraudulence is always trying to project onto good it own image to try to say its the norm. Seems to be one of the reasons so much FUD manufacture is aimed at Tesla. Tesla is far from perfect, its still a bloody corporation but it is aimed so far at doing good. Oh look a provider provides actual privacy- better if they just sell hand set in hard encrypted mesh requiring no service with free long distance- and then ignore the demands and claims of fraud inc when they try to shut it down and take away- these people can be Skyped to pieces. Imagine only the worst most degenerate fraud and criminality would have ever allowed Verizon to be anything but a dumb pipe- people aren't property. Would we allow Verizon to microphone everyone's homes as Google tried and then being all in bed with terrorist surveillance state creeps- if we needed protection it would be from such a state.
This stuff is such a slippery slope. In the EU they make chemicals added to food have to shown to be safe- in the US for no other reason than greed (not food spoilage) they allow beta testing experiments where these drugs are added without knowledge or consent- see the difference? GPRD is flawed- too commerce friendly but a start. What CA did was a start. The break ups will be a start, need to break up AT&T and Comcast as well.

One of the famed reasons the Soviet Union struggled was that it chose mega phones over telephones it chose top down vertical drown out propaganda over horizontal communication. Later when it did have the telephone you actually had to assist them with listening in on your communications which were all recorded just like written letters which were opened and read in transit and reported on. And in various countries at various times it was illegal to be alone because you had to have two other people with you who could witness and accuse you. And you had to inform on your neighbors, not doing so was considered a crime. And in the US today a million people, more than work for Walmart, are suddenly employed in the spy apparatus which includes domestic spying and such down a ton of resources and which some insiders say produces less than 1% return on equity and where others argue that one percent is priceless.

Now think about the model we are moving to where the internet is converted to cable TV with paid subscriptions and ads plus it spies on you. Lets break that down. 1. Top down channels (mega phone,) this is the anti- net neutrality ability to pay (wealth based dominance) to censor what people can see on he net to control the narrative it is about making censorship and discrimination profitable and sustainable about reversing the primary utility of the internet to serve domination instead of undermine it. 2. Pavlovian conditioning with the modal ad (takes up all the screen and all the sound) which conditions a right to interrupt which hones propaganda inputs and instill subservience- "the medium is the message" and the message here is top down dominance or subservience (you listen you don't speak- it is pure input no output- and you don't have a right to interrupt only to be interrupted- change the channel and with new persistence you'll find the ads are the same, even synchronized- it is a channel dial not really attached not anything) but crucially over and over again they get you in a heightened state of attention and then interrupt you with their propaganda to condition you to their propaganda which will invariable involve a rent seeking demand creation- a repurposing of your time, will, attention and energy to their ends. 3. In the new model the cables are used to spy and report on you so it is still a megaphone but it watches you, predicts you and reports on you with convenient automated reporting. 4. You dig your own humiliating grave, a common totalitarian practice because they addict you to this junk and make you pay to be spied on, reported on, constantly interrupted and brainwashed- you literally pay a lot for this cable TV style ads plus subscription model plus spying and tracking and prediction. It wasn't just Niesen ratings spying on what you were watching and or Microsoft trying to put a camera on your TV- they want all the market will bear for this humiliation. 6. What they should be is dumb pipes but instead they are consolidated down to about 6 companies with interlocking boards that spy and inform on you and making money by selling intelligence on you.

This is a fully planned, top down, centralized economy and power system that runs on fiat currency. You can contrast that with the ideals of the Communists, they were actually trying up until the apparent end to get rid the state, money, markets and contracts- get rid of the state while have a powerful state until they dissolved it. Really the greatest innovation has been fiat currency and MMT that is the genie in the bottle- that makes everything possible although sufficient automation and the ability to harness the sun help massively. We have the genie in the bottle now. But do we want a society based on trust, friendship and peace or one based on elitism, fear, coercions and endless quickly unsustainable war? The message that the fear based system communicates, the hell of it is the elitism and privilege, the us verses them the fomenting of division the suspicion of diversity the uniformity of top down militaristic people as property projective control. They have a basic misunderstanding about identity, there is no human identity or individual, try to control another and enslave the fiction that is yourself in a hell, there is no me there is just us because there is no inside or outside- its all mirrored. There is no real separation in life either. There arbitrary notions of superiority come from a lack of understanding, from ignorance and even stupidity. It doesn't take much sophistication we just have to see every means is an end in itself and we should be able to recognize evil actions when we see them and we shouldn't fixate on the past if we want to reduce its influence in the present and future.

It is important not to under estimate how alluring the marketing the people as disposable property model has been. You see every person has needs and wants and the fulfillment of those needs and wants is found in other people or what they have as in we complete each other. But the market is an inefficient mechanism. The the sensor filled persistent storage network backed by deep learning quantum AI is a much more efficient match maker. Especially when it is black boxed, proprietarily protected (by the full greed of a corporation) and made equal opportunity. It spies on everyone (essentially) and then aggregates that data and then suitors they have to profile themselves or their wares in a certain ever more optimal or optimized way or pay more and then in the most unobtrusive or least annoying way (doesn't want an allergy to its service to develop) it prompts its tracked targets with crucially relevant information. So less collateral attentional damage, less noise, more signal. It also doesn't share its proprietary information except in aggregated never dis aggregated ways not because it cares about its marks but because it doesn't want its service reverse engineered and duplicated. But is also gotten involved in skewing inquires through search and that is more of a problem- that is sponsored or conflicted search that really amounts to censorship. Stuff like throttling and all that is more of the same in terms of censorship.

But that is Google, there are much less intelligent companies live Verizon that are much less discriminate- Verizon should be nothing but a dumb pipe but instead seems more like a firm that reads your emails (as Google idiotically did/does) and would convert your phone calls to text and sell the contents to other people and interrupt your phone calls with ads and put stop lights in the middle of freeways in order to make people sit there during commutes and look at ads- surely other dimwitted firms like Comcast and AT&T think they will have you captive in self driving cars and harass you- stuff that should never ever be allowed because it would be like locking someone the indoctrination equivalent of a sensory deprivation chamber at regular intervals.

Which brings us to the potential. A service that didn't do all this criminal, narcissistic, sociopathic, psychopathic, solipsistic, collusive, greedy bs would utterly disrupt these bad actors. As we Tesla its all about what you don't do that makes you invincible. They don't build junk programmed obsolescence junk. Their products don't spew pollution. They products don't subject people to grifting dealers. They don't fight airbags and seat belts they actively develop safety innovations. They don't make you go to gas stations. On and on and on. What a novel idea, communication companies and systems that to try to pimp their customers and constantly lie to them and manipulate them and try to corrupt the laws that directly affect their lives- a communication company that wasn't a literal public enemy.
