This video offers a series of comparative tests between the Kona Electric and Bolt EV. The two vehicles are closely matched in many respects. First, they do an efficiency test, and then a little drag racing. Next up is braking regeneration abilities - how much power can the car accept while slowing down - which was kind of neat. Even neater? Another race, this time in reverse. Finally, they do a high-speed turn comparison, which was also kind of interesting.
I own both and love both cars for different reasons. It makes for a very well rounded EV fleet in my garage!
I have been following "Out of Spec Motoring" for some time. He does cover different EVs. There are many good points he makes about both these vehicles. Obviously Chevy has improved the battery capacity of the Bolt. It also looks like the interior has been better designed. If it weren't for the lack of Fed and State incentive which is substantial, I would have bought the Bolt. In this time of epidemic, I salute those who like him keep on working and doing what they love to make a living. Good video. I recommend it. I recommend viewing his video about his trip across the US (half way). It gives some real insight on charging wo's and successes.
This 70 mph range test was just published today. Got just a very slightly better result than the Chevy Bolt EV with 229.1 miles and 3.6 miles per kWh.
Very interesting video (and comparison between the two cars)! I'm glad I didn't because of the Smart Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. He actually mentions in the video how much more relaxing his 70mph test was in the Kona because of those features. I personally wouldn't want to miss them!
