Most of the EVGo chargers around my area are the crappy 100 amp units.. Really doesn't affect me. We have tons of free or low priced Greenlots chargers in here in Central Florida.. Just charged on a free 50kw today..
They have said this plan is temporary while they are working out a fix for the getting charged the higher price, even though you only get 77KW speed or so and that the fix will be implemented before this plan expires.
Honestly, I think KWH delivered is the fairest way to do it, not sure why all providers don't do this.
At least initially, state laws were in the way. Selling electrical power was reserved for electrical utilities, so they came up with the per-minute charge as a different way to do this. But state laws in many areas have been updated, and this is no longer required.
Ok, just hopefully they don't end up charging as much as Blink....$0.59/kWH for quick charging is outrageous, although I think I have only had their chargers work once for me.
They even charge like 40 cents for Level 2 charging.. I don't know who uses them?? At least around here, there are tons of FREE Level 2 chargers.. So, why pay that much for Level 2 charging?? I have never used Blink..
I'd hope EA would charge by the kWh in states where they could and stay with per-minute in the states where they couldn't. But if they kept the tiers, you'd still have the Hyundai/Kia problem in the per-minute states.
They used to be pretty much all that was available in the San Diego area, so I had issues when going to San Diego in the Leaf, that is finally changing, so hopefuloly soon enough they will be completely Blink free.
