Bit more data noted during another remote climate use. Internal temp 117F upon initiation. Battery 82%. After 15 minutes, internal temp 90F, battery 78%. After 30 minutes, battery 76%. Internal temp appeared to be holding in the mid 80s from 15 minutes - 30 minutes. I don't recall whether the Honda documentation states if there is a temperature goal for the remote climate system (if it had a goal to be within 15 degrees of the set point my numbers would confirm this).

So my rule of thumb is that for 30 minutes of climate usage, battery drain could be around 5%. I believe someone has posted the amount of power the A/C system requires, so this could reinforce a rule of thumb based on the math. I believe after getting to the mid-80s inside, my compressor was turning off and on, so not continuous power drain.

When remote climate is active, you should be able to see updated status (cabin temp and battery charge) in the App approximately every five minutes.

I believe that the remote or preconditioning is independent of how you set the climate control. I base this on the following document submitted first (I think) by @jdonalds.

Great. That's the chart I had vaguely recalled seeing and it confirms what I observed with the app. Per the app, the cabin temp didn't go lower than 86F even though my setpoint was circa 70F. Once the app showed the internal temp at 86F, I noticed that the compressor was not continuously running but just coming on intermittently (to keep the temp at 86F, I now know).
