Update on my RECALL - 2020 Kona Ultimate

As previously mentioned, I'm scheduled for my "REMEDY" on Sept 29th. I called the Service dept again and asked specifically the process - fearing they would keep my car for weeks. I was told that the initial visit next week they will record the Battery serial # & Info and UPLOAD to HYUNDAI Motors to get authorization. They will also SCAN the Codes on the vehicle for any issues/failures (I assume the Battery). They told me that if "NO ERROR CODES FOUND" I would get my car back and they would Schedule the replacement after they received the Battery. If any ERROR CODES are found, they will keep the car until the Battery assembly is replaced.

  3. I wonder if disconnecting the 12V battery may clear any codes, thereby avoiding some possible time w/o the car;)

The "CODES" are related & specific to the High Voltage Battery assembly, not the other general 'codes' for other functions. I have no codes at all on my console indicating any issues.

  5. They also addressed my battery with my clicking drivetrain problem today. Work order states they "performed a battery cathode inspection using GDS" scan tool, "performed update event 707", this presumably was a BMS update, no codes were scanned. According to my service advisor I am still on wait list for a replacement traction battery with an unknown ETA. Weird thing is they keep giving me the car back with reset battery charging limits at 100%.

Service Mgr. at my dealer said yesterday he got a communication that a battery, for my VIN, should be delivered to him next week, with installation to come once they get it. Progress.

New battery installed today. The first VIN/Battery label check was done in mid-July, battery was delivered to dealer last week and we brought the car in for replacement today. In by 9:15AM, out by 1:45pm, and we had a nice lunch in town. Seems fine.

I'll understand the service rep (dealer) having not complete info/training for when I got information from them back in the summer. Training could have been better but the dealers were being given next to no information, and then conflicting information, from Hyundai. After that, great comms with the service manager and we ended up as happy as we were when we leased the car originally in 12/19 (the dealership really extended itself on getting us a car back then and did a reasonable deal for us). Kudos ultimately to Healey Hyundai, Beacon NY.
