Empty nesters, we bought a new Ioniq SE PHEV in June '21 as a primary vehicle. Mrs. has a 10 mi RT weekday commute & we use it on weekends, total 1,500 mi/mo. Not counting our cost of power (about $0.11/kw OP) we get 80 mi/gallon. After dealer incentive, $4350 Fed. tax credit + $500 CT rebate, my cost (including CT 6.35% sales tax!) was $22,400. Wait...it keeps getting better...Hyundai financed 100% at 1.9%! This car won't be for everyone, but if you can make it work, it is THE BEST new-car value, period.
