Don’t jump the gun like that. Your dealer has already reserved your incentive. There is also over 5 million still remaining not counting the reserved amounts. https://www.cevforbc.ca/
Personally, if i were you, i would try to locate one and start enjoying it or waiting till later this year
When I was waiting for mine, I asked for updates, too. My dealership had to call Hyundai Canada for updates. They were able to track it on it's way from BC to Ontario. Ended up taking two weeks more than expected.
I'm not entirely sure the rebate works this way. I will try and get some more information from the dealer and get back to you. Thanks
Or you could read the bc governments website that states how it works? Did your dealer not tell you they were reserving your vehicle and rebate?...
Which dealership did you use? Ours actually said that our deposit was refundable because we weren’t guaranteed the rebate.
Weird. It’s contrary to literally everything I know about the bc rebate for eligible vehicles and dealerships. When an order is made whether it’s be an in stock or ordered vehicle they submit and “reserve” the rebate. They then deduct the rebate off the cost of the car. We’re required to keep the the vehicle insured and registered in bc for 12 months, if we don’t we have to pay back the rebate the dealership claimed on our behalf. The website even confirms this by showing the amount claimed, reserved and remaining. Either way I’m zero concerned. It’s been around since 2015 and it still has 5 million + remaining. It’s been topped up a few times I think has it not? I doubt the ndp wouldn’t top it up even if it were to run out.
The dealer must get a VIN for the vehicle before the rebate can be reserved. Until your vehicle has a VIN you can not have the funds reserved.
Just sent an email off to the dealer to clarify. Far easier then this silly back and forth guessing and assuming what’s what. Either way I’m not at all concerned.
Was just recently some articles I was reading that literally just talked about them topping up the incentive programs. They won’t be running dry until the next provincial election at least ha https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/b-c-government-steps-in-to-recharge-ev-incentive-program
When was it you ordered your Kona? Was it preferred? Can we as the buyer call Hyundai Canada for updates, or does it have to come from the dealer?
Ordered the Ultimate in early April. Arrived in 7 weeks. Not sure if you can call directly. No harm in trying. Let us know what happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just called their 1-888-216-2626 helpcenter number. Their customer relations department cannot access that information. They can't even get tracking info if we already have the VIN (which we do not). Everything needs to be initiated through the dealer. Also, according to the rep, if their delivery is actually pushed to the end of the year it will still be a 2019 model. I asked if they will still be manufacturing them then, he responded saying they will deliver whatever is in their contract. Not reassuring, but I tried.
I believe the incentive started with 10 million and now is at 60 +. I will contact my dealer to be sure, better to ask directly instead of guessing..
I ordered May 3rd pearl red two tone preferred. Dealership said at test drive 90 days but would know better when a work order was confirmed. Mid September they said.
If you have a signed deal your incentive is reserved and will be there when your vehicle arrives. I was losing sleep when I saw how fast the incentive funds dropped so quickly until it was explained to me by the dealership.
Nice choice, I ordered the very same colour and model about a week later . I was also told this same time line initially and then told maybe end of year. As much as I hope they are correct about their initial projection until we get an assigned VIN number I think its just all conjecture on the dealer's part. Incidentally if you hear anything about your vehicle send me a message as our vehicles would very likely be produced in the same batch. I will certainly do the same if I hear anything.
Def! So many different orders all just all over the place with deliveries. Hard to figure out if there’s any sort of pattern to it all. I guess we can use ours as a benchmark to figure out how the the logic works.
So the dealer emailed me back. Clarified that the work order has been submitted to the factory but the factory hasn’t responded with a delivery date and VIN. Since no car has actually been made or shipped or anything the deposit is still fully refundable and no rebates have actually been reserved. But he made a really good point: the incentive has been around as I said since 2015 and has been re-infused with money several times and is not by anyone’s imagination going to be going dry any time soon. As for the federal incentive that’s a bit more grey, it’s in the budget and the funds aren’t at risk for running out but if the liberals were to lose the next election and cons took over they’ve made it pretty clear they don’t believe in the rebates and would most likely axe it for the next fiscal year (but prob wouldn’t axe the already active current year) that’s still a year away as fiscal is May to April.
My dealership just called. Had a Kona EV preferred in where the buyer fell through. Offered it to me. So would have taken it but it’s black. My only hard no colour is black. Still hurt & took a bit of my soul to say no though :-(
