  1. Ah, I see you are in the same stage of Kona buying(grief) as me... denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance :)
In all seriousness, I find this buying/waiting experience fun. I'm in my 50's and I have been involved with all sorts cars for the majority of my life and I have to admit this is the first car in ages that has stired the same sense of interest that I had as a young man. Its something familiar yet something completely new. :) Anyways back to the discussion at hand, it would be cool to know what ships our assigned cars will be on just like the folks on the UK ev forum seem to have access to.

My dealership (in PoCo) said they’re expecting 4 by mid July (I guest this could be the shipment) he said there’s an electric blue one as I was asking to see the colour... I know mine is not till January (I am just hoping somebody doesn’t want the car anymore and they’ll call me for it)

  4. Order submitted to Hyundai May 3rd 2019. Prior to placing the order the answer was “90 days from order to delivery is the benchmark goal” while placing the order they said “90-120 days” a week after ordering when I pressed for a more definitive answer then these guesses they said “mid August September at most but you’re lucky you got your order in now as now it’s 2020 for all new orders!” Approaching 60 days into the order period and asked for a follow up, has any -actual- information on production or delivery been made and how does the provincial order reduction work since no sales agreement has been made for “reserving” the rebate: “January I’m being told but don’t worry your rebate is grandfathered in.”

So much for “got the order in before the rush.”

At this point it’s clear Hyundai couldn’t give a crap about its EV sales market. It’s all a game, if it truly was battery material supply issues they’d be talking about it. It’s a deliberate delay. If these delays weren’t intentional they’ve have closed accepting sales and they wouldn’t be continuing to launch into new markets when they aren’t even filling orders from their existing markets. Hyundai is clearly incompetent at communication or production of anything other then their ICE vehicles.m

    This is stupid.

  5. I agree and I wish I could vote with my dollars but honestly I don't feel like I have much of a choice. Currently there is nothing really equivalent to the Korean EVs in the North American market. I am thinking they know this. Bolt is not my cup of tea with its styling, seats and torsion beam suspension, Leaf is out mostly because they insist on passive battery temperature management. Volkswagen, BMW, have too short range, too expensive, Model 3 would be nice but I am getting too old for low slung sedans. I can't afford a model x . Whats left? I am sure this time next year it will be very different market but until then I guess we have to take the BS and stale gruel from Hyundai and like it.

  6. It’s just ongoing bs. The EV market is maturing but Hyundai currently has the crossover market cornered with the e-Niro and Kona EV. There is zero competition except people wit deep pocket books who can jump to the model 3 for range and nothing else. Every time I ask it’s just pushed back further and they just shrug. Right now the dealership is showing 4 Kona EV’s but it’s just a farce I’m sure. The whole things a freakin joke and the patience is wearing thin. It’s gojng to come January and they’ll say oh no it’s March. It’s one thing to have your launch delayed but a year after announcement and 6 months deep into deliveries and all they do is announce new markets and **** nothing else.

We had to get the 2020 model and expected delivery in January when we booked ours in mid May.. I was told they’d call the waiting list in order (depending the colour and trim) if any sales go down. I am still hopeful.. but I am totally with you that they don’t really care about their EV sales, looks like the market is getting stronger than what they can produce and they are just pushing for the gas cars instead.. you can see the sales people attitude change as soon as you say electric..

It’s 3 of us now! For me.. In certain way the wait is helping us save some money for the deposit and lowers the payments.. specially is giving me a bit longer to sell my current car.. but at the same time, so nervous that the rebates will be done here in B.C. before we get the car.

  13. Not to mention my friend already wants to buy their first car and my car is that car... how long do they want to wait for me to wait for a new bloody car...

My friend ordered a preferred on April 18. We were told it should come in by the end of July. Got our fingers crossed.

  15. Yeah it’s really sad how all over the place ordering and manufacturing is. How can a preferred ordered April 18th arrive at the end of July and the May 3rd order that was supposedly going to be 90-120 days is suddenly January 2020 while the April 18th is still on for July. Is the factory that disorganized that an established manufacturer can’t figure out what order to build and ship cars? It’s baffling.

  16. Although Hyundai is doing extremely well with their EV sales and models, they're still a very big ICE manufacturer and will continue to be for some time.
Despite that, their EV R&D is state of the art, affordable and because of that, they have a niche market with huge demands.
    For now.
Despite that, the priority is still ICE with them and its frustrating. I've accepted the delay, as I haven't been this excited for a vehicle since I was 18.
It will happen and the EV grant in BC will still be there. If you have any paperwork showing your reservation prior to the BCEV rebate change, you're gold.

Now.... While Hyundai currently has a niche, there are other car manufacturers just on the horizon with some sweet models and ranges. If Hyundai continues to drop the ball, other manufacturers will soon be scooping up their clients and Hyundai is well aware of this. If I'm still waiting for my Kona and for example, a nice comparable VW ID model comes my way, I'll buy it. The tech is advancing and its advancing FAST. If any car manufacturer slips or stalls with EVs they'll soon be left behind.

I ordered mine ultimate on April 23rd, got a call from Victoria Hyundai that I had been issued a VIN and the car was on the boat. They told me that it is expected to arrive in Vancouver on the 10th of July and be at the dealer the following week.

I have a very similar order date, you are raising my hopes, Michael Magee! Probably it will turn out that there are only Ultimates on that boat and I will have to wait for another production run.

  21. How exciting, congratulations. Alas, I am hearing crickets from my dealer :)

That’s good news! I ordered mine on the same day so you have my hopes up now. Do you know if you are getting the full $5000 rebate or just the $3000?
