Here's the InsideEVs piece talking about delayed UK deliveries. It seems like some have gotten their car, so this might be for those who didn't pre-order. Need to look into this more.
Maybe make the suggestion in the Ontario government consultations at https://www.ontario.ca/form/tell-us-your-ideas-climate-change Otherwise maybe the feds might pick that up for those provinces that are not on board by Jan 2019?
I'm also in Calgary. Pre-ordered and made the $1000. deposit on 9th August, for an Ultimate, Ceramic blue. That's the last I've heard from anyone at Hyundai -- nothing from the head office nor the dealer, in spite of several emails. I also am wondering if the dealer screwed things up. My "offer to-purchase" (signed by the sales manager) shows "expected delivery date" by 31st December 2018.
I initially put in my order on July 5, the first day of Canadian pre-orders. I got an email Sept 11 from Hyundai Canada, "We are happy to confirm that Canadian-market pre-order vehicles are scheduled to be produced in the months of October, November and December of 2018. Vehicle delivery will be allocated based on your pre-order date and will take place before March 2019. As we receive more information specific to the unique VIN that will be assigned to you, we will pass it along immediately. We will also provide you with monthly updates on production, pricing as well as your delivery date." Having said all that, we don't have the Ontario rebate in place anymore. I'm willing to pay 15k more for electric, as compared to ICE or Hybrid Kona, as I can easily make the economic case. I'm awaiting the actual cost. If it is more than 46K not including taxes, I'm probably out as that puts me beyond the snack bracket that I am comfortable with.
My deposit was placed July 11 with Crowfoot Hyundai in Calgary and I received the same email from Hyundai on Sept 11 plus a phone call from my sales rep a few days later. He didn’t really have any more info than the email included. I did not sign an “Offer to Purchase” but was provided a copy of my credit card receipt along with a “Hyundai Sold Order Verification Form” with the subject line “Electric Vehicle (EV) Sold Order Process Change” with my name , address, etc and a specific “Sold Order Number”. I think you should check with your dealer if they followed the same process with your order. I suspect if they didn’t you may not have made the official pre-Order list with Hyundai Canada and may explain why you didn’t receive the Sept 11 email. Or with your later deposit date you possibly missed the first wave of reservations and have been placed on the wait list for the second.
Just popping in to say it's really great to see all these future Kona Electric owners showing up. We hope at least some of you will share your ownership experience after your car arrives. Go Canada!
I have put down a 1,000 deposit on Oct 15th. When I put this money down they (Nanaimo BC) took a photo copy of my drivers licence and I can't remember signing anything. I got a message from Hyundai and the said that the production date for my car was going to be January 18th. Hyundai is being very tight lipped about price and many other things.
Just got an email today from Hyundai and this is what it said: We are happy to confirm your KONA Electric is scheduled to be built in December 2018 and your estimated delivery date is expected in February 2019. Still no price but I am sure that I will be enlightened in the near future. I wonder how they will build it without a list of equipment or features Huuuuuum
Got my build email from Hyundai this morning! Thought I would give the details as I am sure a lot of people reading are as impatient as I am with getting my hands on this puppy. Dealership is in BC. Deposit date was July 23rd. Production month is November and expected Delivery is January 2019
I got an email today and it is coming a little earlier than yours Wayne. My email reads: Exciting news! We are happy to confirm your KONA Electric is scheduled to be built in November 2018 and your estimated delivery date is expected in January 2019. As we receive more information specific to the unique VIN that will be assigned to you, we will pass it along immediately. Order Confirmation: • Pre-order date: 07/20/2018 • Model: KONA Electric • Colour: CERAMIC BLUE
Just got my email as well. Same basic message except mine says build in December and delivery in February. My pre order was placed prior to most of you guys (July10) that have posted here so wondering why I’m later delivery than you guys. I wonder if it’s region or color related. I’m in Alberta and ordered Galactic Grey
Hey Wayne, the list of equipment and features is fixed. When you did your pre order you automatically get the Ultimate trim level (fully loaded.... no options). The only selection you should have been asked about was exterior color and interior color. Depending on which exterior color you chose, you would get the choice of a black interior or the grey/pebble blue.
The dealership couldn't really answer me when I asked if it had a sunroof or if the batteries were warranted for life like I had heard.
We were told all of the first builds have sunroofs and that was the reason we couldn't have the two tone with white roof. Don't know about battery warranty. We ordered grey/pebble blue with our Ceramic Blue. Does anyone know if Canadian Kona EV comes with Sirius XM? I have a life time subscription that I would like to transfer over. Thanks.
I'm sure I was one of the earliest deposits: July 6th in BC. My letter today also says the car will be built in November and delivery expected in January. Mine is Ceramic Blue, and I intend to wrap the roof in a matte black. Love all the great reviews by people doing test drives.
