there was really only a colour pick available when I put in my preorder. I'm sure the rest is dealer install?

  3. So tomorrow marks one month since Hyundai confirmed my Kona EV was supposed to be built in November and delivered in January. Since then... crickets. That's nothing new of course. So far my pre-order experience has been nothing broken promises and lack of communication with both me and my dealer. No VIN, no price, no delivery date, no production updates, doodley squat. I have zero confidence that I'll see this car before summer and then I'm pretty convinced the price will be outrageous. Just curious if anybody else has heard anything - and if anybody else thinks Hyundai's behavior and customer service is wanting?

  4. I ordered mine July 18, and haven't even received an email! My dealer says that I will most likely get an email from Hyundai before he gets any info but he says he's been checking every day. I spent 28 minutes on the phone on hold with customer service 'Next in line' on Tuesday before leaving a message with the promise of a one business day return call. Still waiting! Very frustrating...

  5. No emails at all? Ever? That doesn't sound good. Although given how things have gone so far it might mean nothing at all.

I had an email last month saying that I would have a VIN this month with a delivery date sometime in February .I went to the dealer and he looked on the computer and they said that they think February 06 will be there delivery date .
I don't believe that the dealer doesn't have any information .I think that they are not telling the full truth . Time to get some answers !!!!!

  9. Like Wildeyed, it will be one month tomorrow since my letter saying car would be built in November and delivered in January. Hopefully we will get another letter in the next 10 days or so. Fingers crossed. I’m going ahead with install of home charger in at the end of this month.

I'm not perturbed with things concerning my order which we made in July. Hyundai wrote last month and said the car would be coming in January, and that they would update us in one month which will be on December 15th. Hopefully we get the update with the VIN on that date. I'll let you know if/when the email update comes.

  11. Hi,

I had a similar message. Car will be built in December, delivery in February but nothing else. No emails, no price, no nothing ...
I still think the wait is worth it, if the price is less than 45k, and I expect the car to be here by April just after winter so it's ok for me.

  13. Price in USA announced today at $36,450 US. That’s for the large battery SE MODEL which doesn’t have all the features of the Ultimate model we get in Canada (ie 8”screen, heated seats etc ) I expect our price in Canada to be $48,000-$50,000 based on US price.

I cancelled my preorder and got my deposit back. I'm in Contario so no more incentives to go electric except greater efficiency and quietness. I wrote to Hyundai Canada, and got a standard reply that it was all being organized, but wait for dealer. My current car was on last legs so I started looking around for a decent used car. Went to another Hyundai dealership and chatted up a sales person who said that we'd be lucky to get Konas in Ontario by the end of 19. I did find a good used MB diesel which is way nicer than my vibe and more efficient and more powerful and more luxurious. I guess i'm going to have to wait for another 4 or 5 years for an EV in Ontario.

  15. You may well have made the right decision. In a few years there'll be tons of choice, prices will be lower and cars will actually be on the lot. Imagine that!

I hope we aren't all waiting until the end of 2019 for the Kona EV. Good luck with your MB diesel. Nice cars and very well built and usually pretty comfortable too.

  17. I'm fed up with Hyundai's behaviour and it's complete inability to communicate. Despite the message last month about a November build and January delivery for my car my dealer says they have no such information and have only one order (of many at the dealership) that is tentatively scheduled for a build in January. No mention of my build at all. He doesn't believe any orders will come until March. Why is Hyundai so bloody inept?

I am not shocked by the late arrivals of our cars, but I am very disappointed in lack of communication from Hyundai Canada. I would feel okay getting regular updates explaining that there are delays due to demand or the accuator recalls, but I am not okay with no information at all. They took our $1000 and all seemed upbeat. Now it is dead silence from them. I really believed we would have an email today with an update as they said we would get monthly updates. They are ruining their reputation by not being responsive to us.

  19. I agree completely. But what really ticks me off is that THEY are the ones who have promised monthly updates, production updates, VINs and pricing, THEY are the ones who confirmed build and delivery but then failed to do any of it. Nobody twisted their arm for the promises and still they fail to deliver on those - and at literally every fundamental aspect of their customer relations. It's pretty amazing how such a big company can be so inept.

I agree completely. I really don't care if it's good news or bad news I can take it but what is not on is no news at all. I think it is a little disrespectful .

Yes disrespectful is a good way to describe the lack of communications to us. I'm like you Wayne in that I can take the bad news, but I would like to be informed.

    Hi

Please do not shoot me down in flames; I am a Salesperson working in a Hyundai dealership in British Columbia Canada.

Unfortunately the information we have at the dealership level is very vague.

But we will be provided with production and shipping updates from head office.

I personally have ordered my first and was informed delivery will be second quarter of 2019 and initially only the ultimate model will be available.

Will keep you updated on any developments as we receive them.
