Wireless Carplay adapters

Anyone having trouble after upgrading IOS to 13.4.1 with the carplay2air randomly disconnecting - like the device was unplugged from the USB port? It happened two consecutive days so I rolled back to 13.4 and have not seen the problem since. But keep in mind I'm not in my car nearly as much these days so the sample size is low.

Is your iPhone still on 13.4? Are you still having this disconnection problem?

What are the main advantages of using CarPlay (presuming this works properly)? I know it gives you access to apps on your phone, but I'm trying to figure out what people actually want it for. Most of the time I just let my iPhone XS Max connect via bluetooth. That lets me play music via the Siri button on the steering wheel, and I can also make calls that way. And, of course, you can tell Siri to give you directions that way, although the map will only display on your iPhone and not on the infotainment display (I see advantages to that in that it is not tying up the infotainment display).

Has anyone had a problem using Google Maps or Apple Maps with the adaptor? I have found that there is a serious time lag sometimes in the car location making it impossible to use.

For some reason while using the wireless adapter it's using the GPS from the phone not the car. If your phone is in your pocket or under the console the GPS will lag. Hopefully this will be fixed in an upcoming update.

I found Car2Play to work great with the Clarity. Since I only commute or take short trips, I don't mine my iPhone not being plugged in.

I found a discount code for free expedited shipping. Delivery took 2 weeks.

I'm afraid the car GPS will only work with the native Garmin navigation software (if you have a Touring). I think CarPlay only interfaces your phone to the car so you can use the car display, but what it uses is what is in the phone.

I have been using Carlinkit adapter and have been very satisfied with how it works. Picks up my phone when I am in the proximity of the car with no issues. I use Apple Music, Pandora, Waze, Google Maps, and music stored on my phone. Siri will play anything I request from any of the sources by pressing the stalk button. It will also obtain Nav directions by doing the same. The phone is either in my pocket or in the door pocket with my wallet. Grab both when I leave the car.

I've tried the latest CarLinkit 4.0 adaptor and the QuadLock adaptor (I believe it's a rebadged adaptor from someone else, despite the QL logos everywhere I doubt they designed their own from scratch, but I was buying something else from QL anyways and it was on sale).

The CarLinkit 4.0 would just freeze from time to time, QuadLock crashes but then usually reboots and comes back up on the head unit. They both seem to fail when I'm listening to something on Spotify. Not sure if it's the adaptors' fault or my car's software needs to be updated (it's definitely not up-to-date and I couldn't find a dealer willing to do it at any reasonable pricing, even tho there's an NHTSA advisory to upgrade the software).

Anyways, I'd appreciate if people using older CarLinkit adaptors or the Car2Play adaptors can confirm wherever or not their adaptors function well when using Spotify and wherever the car software (not talking the version of Android, more so car firmware) is up to date or not.

PS. Do the voice commands for Google Maps work for anyone? Siri is flawless, but I can't get Google Maps to recognize anything when tapping the voice button in Google Maps.
