Article Link: The Crazy, Complicated Engineering Inside Honda's New Clarity Hybrid

While the article title may suggest a negative take on the Clarity, the author Eric Adams actually gets it, unlike the author of that pathetic Ars Technica article a couple weeks back.

His closing statement sums up the car well:
You can just get in, drive the thing like a normal car (and a normal person), and let it work to maximize efficiency on its own. But if you’re looking for true control—and don’t mind feeling like a cross between a symphony conductor and a gamer entering cheat codes—welcome to the top of the complexity hierarchy.

EDIT: Just noticed that the browser tab shows "Complex" as the original title of the article, but the headline for the article states "Complicated". Same difference.Complex.webp

He really does get it, especially that very last paragraph to set the average Joe/Josey at ease about just "buy and drive."

The author dug deep to learn about the underlying EV, Hybrid, and Engine drive modes to which the driver has no direct access. He name-dropped those modes to reinforce the complexity implied by the title. At least he concluded that you can just get in and drive.
