Where are you going with your EV this weekend?

Anyone travelling? fun trip? groceries?

Show us a cool picture of a spot you went to!
Friday is my night to cook. I drove my MINI Cooper SE to the not-so-nearby Burger King to get us a couple of Whoppers. More fun than getting groceries, but not as much fun as my monthly excursion on 30 miles of curvy back roads to deliver a paycheck to one of my work-at-home employees. I've told her I'm closing the company if they lower the speed limit on the fastest part of that drive, Hadley Road (not far from the famous town of Hell, Michigan):

I don't have a trip planned for this weekend, but have done several in the past and reported them in the appropriate specific car sub forums. I think trips are not only interesting but also very informative and helpful to those contemplating a longer trip with their EV. Unfortunately, most forum readers tend to only follow their specific car forum or the General forum and never get to read these reports.

My suggestion would be to create another sub forum directly under General to allow forum users to report their trips where others would be more likely to see and read them. And moderators could move trip reports from apecific car forums to this one so they are more likely to be read.

Many other EV car forum platforms have this sub forum and they generate a lot of activity discussing the trip and how best to plan and do them. I think it would also help this forum to generate more activity as well. Here is an example of the Ioniq forum which I follow because I have an Ioniq 6. It is very active.

I like that idea.

We are pretty cluttered with the number of forums we have. I'm hoping to better organize some things in the future to help target discussions more appropriately to the correct area and reduce ambiguity of where it should go.

Well, I think some changes are needed ASAP. Activity seems to be shrinking more and more. Makes me wonder how long it will stay alive. There are only about 3 or 4 active sub forums left.

That's why i'm here. There are things in motion to bring folks back.
- newsletters starting up again. a new edition is coming out this week. We saw some uptick from it last time and hope for a better turn out this time.
- software upgrade. i have the dev site 85% there. Some more work to be done here to get it where i want it to be. This will significantly increase our ranking on google - i hope - and a better mobile experience for users -- which means folks will be more likely to log in on their devices, which means new visitors to our site with issues/questions about their cars or to just share in the community and more repeat visits because it just works better.
- lots of new models coming out all the time. untapped markets that don't yet exist. I'm adding a few models here and there.

I am always open to suggestions and feedback. Please feel free to ping me with anything you can think of!

And, look where this thread is now located :)

Thanks for the quick action. I am looking forward to more posts (and maybe more can be moved) here. EV trips are always more interesting, partly because of the challenges and planning, which are part of the fun.

I moved a few... if you know of more from back in the day, please feel free to find them and 'report' the post. that will show up in the mod queue for me to manage asap.

It's almost Tuesday, Bob! Where are you?! Lost? Waiting in line at a charge station? Stealing Whoppers from insightman?
Fell for a "trojan" on Friday:

  • Forgetting, I used the phone number in the image!
    • SPAM text was already making texting all but unusable
  • Abundance of caution, changed cell phone number
    • Update the phone numbers with credit card and family
So I got busy. Probably take the trip next weekend and hopefully the rain will be gone.

oh boy! hope you were able to not lose any money in it. Scams everywhere, need to be careful out there.
Their last instruction, “Need to protect your money. Take it out as cash and don’t telll the bank why.”

Checked with bank to make sure they didn’t get in. I then changed the phone number.

Somewhat curious how that trojan image popped up but more curiosity than forensic. “Fecal matter happens” and I have a life.
