Whatever happened to the dual carbon battery??

Sad to say there is a long way from a lab experiment to production. There are so many things that can abort the effort, it is hard to trace the specific reason(s). For example, the NiMH battery suffered from direct, hostile actions:

IMHO, it a battery chemistry advance comes from Tesla, CATL, or Panasonic, I'll give it credibility. Anyone else including Universities, research firms, or fuel cell advocates, not so much. Sad to say, this includes MIT who have issued better press releases than new product firms.
