What are some things I should know?

Hi All,

Wife and I are in the market for a car and she's looking at used Leafs (leaves?) so I'm asking for some guidance. What should I be looking for? Whats the cut off between Gen 1 and Gen 2 because I think I'd want a Gen 2. Is there anything leaf specific I should be aware of?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, also Gen 2 is MY2018 and up. Gen 1 came in 2 flavours: 24kWh from 2010 to 2015, 30kWh from 2016 to 2017 - both with the original polarizing body style.

40kWh is Gen 2 new body style/interior and this has carried on to the My2019 Leaf e-Plus, 62kWh pack. Currently new Leaf's are offered in 40kWh and 62kWh versions. Trims vary by Region.

Thanks I was under the impression that Gen2 was the 2016 model year good to know that I was wrong.

I've had my 2018 SL for about 4 months and very much enjoy it! A couple of things in particular:
- Really like having both charging ports. Nice to have the flexibility to use a Level 2 charger (more common), but also be able to use the CHAdeMO Level 1 chargers. Here in KCMO there are 'a bunch' of free chargers as well right now of both types!
- Love the acceleration when not on eco mode or regen braking! I AM trying to be as efficient as possible, but getting on highway is very easy.
- I have gotten to appreciate the one pedal mode! Very nice to just take foot off 'gas' and have the regen braking stop the car. Once you get used to the distances needed to stop it's actually neat to not have to move my foot. :)

Thanks for all the help guys. Ended up finding a 2015 Soul EV+ that I went with instead. The links and notes provided were extremely helpful in the decision.
