If I cut my arm, I dress the wound and let it close up and heal, I don't leave it gaping open to the elements so the problem can get worse.
A scar is what's left over after the repair.

But you don't dress the wound with perfectly matching skin patches or cream of any sort to camouflage the wound, do you? The gauze, the dressing pads, the bandaid are not camouflage to your body, are they?

...Going to call the dealer first thing Monday morning, but did it at least work out for you in the end?...
Any luck? I bought a small vial of spicy orange off eBay for my daughters '12 base. Of course I haven't seen her or the car long enough to fill a chip in the door edge since it arrived. If it was a good match I would order the blue from the same place.

The dealer couldn't find the part in the system, so I gave the part number for the touch-up paint that I found off an ebay listing. That helped the dealer find it in the system, but they said it wasn't orderable; that they'd have to get a local body shop to mix it.

The eBay link above. I ordered the island blue. The seller is a class act. I mentioned that the spicy orange brush fell into the paint, and asked him to give it a litle extra push before loading the paint. There was an empty container with my order. That's a good seller.

I put a piece of tape on my mirror, and without shaking the paint enough put two dabs on the tape. Some went over. After about an hour while still tacky, this is what I have. A better match than the titanium silver I paid $$$ for at the BMW dealer for my 1 series.
