Tips for removing tail light assembly

I’m replacing the rear lights (2023 Preferred, Canada) and am having trouble removing the tail light assembly. There are two screws and then apparently you just pull the assembly to the rear, but it won’t hardly budge. Any tips from someone who has done this?

Looks like it a plastic clip holding the assembly in place. This was helpful, thank you.
