Thumping sound when braking

Just bought a new 2018 Clarity over the weekend, and I keep getting this rhythmic thumping sound when I brake using either regenerative level 4 or the pedal when traveling over 30 mph.

I saw many people talking about brake rust, so I thought it might be rusty rotors with it sitting in the lot for so long (still had the plastic wrap when I bought it). But since this also happens during paddle regenerative braking, I'm not sure if it's just brake rust. Anyone else experience this during regenerative braking?
 
Suggest you do several hard, almost panic stops in a safe location to wear off any possible rust on the rotors. If that makes the sound go away then you’ll know it was rust. If the sound persists it may be a warped rotor or other issue that needs follow up.

I've never heard a thumping sound. The "swish-swish" sound from my rusty rotors can be heard at slow speeds when not using the brakes. Then it gets louder when I apply the brakes. The sound diminishes significantly after a braking hard a few times from 60 mph. I can't imagine what could cause any kind of sound when using the left paddle to slow down. A warped rotor seems unlikely on a new car, but anything is possible.

If it happens during paddle regenerative braking, seems like it cannot be warped rotor, or brake rust...

How loud is the sound? If it is not loud, I may not have noticed it, but I will try to listen for it tomorrow.
 
I just drove up and down the highway.... Paddle braking from 55 mph to 30 mph had no thumping sounds. Also no sound when braking with the pedal.

I guess I am no help, sorry.
 
I can only hear it, doesn't feel like anything. Neither I nor the sales rep heard it while we were doing some test drives since we were talking. With the radio on even slightly you can't hear it. Probably going to take it back to the dealership in the next week to get it checked out, hopefully it's just brake rust or something minor.
