The charge port is in the rear, why?

Why did they put the charge port in the rear of the ID-4? The cables from Electrify America are too short and we mostly have to back in to charge. I get the length of the charge cable as there is a huge amount of energy going through it.

Don't know. I suppose in part it is because for a RWD vehicle, the relevant power electronics are also going to be in the rear and not in the front. But that's just my guess - I haven't seen anything from VW saying why they did this.

Even "Revolutionary" vehicles evolve from everything which came before.

VW has placed their fuel-filler caps in the right-rear fender for decades.

As odd as it sounds, that might have had as much to do w/ the choice as anything - institutional practices are notoriously slow to change.
