"The TCEQ has received a sufficient number of applications to award the allocated 2,000 electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles under the Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program, and suspends acceptance of applications for electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles effective Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m."

Your reply is over the top cynical, IMHO.

Don't think so -- the state agency with jurisdiction just spent all of the money allocated to the program by the state Legislature. The State of Texas has a budget for this (just as with everything else) because they want to have a balanced budget. If there were "oil overlords which actually runs [sic] the government" in Texas, there wouldn't have been this multi-million dollar environmental rebate run by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in the first place.

Well, I can't speak from personal experience about Texas, but I know this applies in Oklahoma. The legislature here would never offer any money to push EV's here, plus they won't even pass production tax percentages to match those in Texas out of fear of angering the companies who fill the coffers with money.

Well, I also can't speak from personal experience about Oklahoma either, but a very quick Internet search revealed Oklahoma Statutes 68-2357.22, which appears to be a Legislature-passed state level tax credit for at least some alternative fueled vehicles (maybe now expired, like the Texas rebate program now has). I didn't take time to read all of the details, but it does seem to include EVs in the statutory language. Awesome google skills broseph, but that link only applies to LPG fueled. The EV section just references to look to the feds for tax credits.
 
Since I thought this pertained to nearly every forum here, I posted this info in the main category the day I believe it happened (March 28th). I submitted (overnighted) mine on March 4th when there were less than 100 slots still available. About a week later, we got notified via voice and email of a couple of minor omissions on our application and faxed the corrections in the very next day. We emailed a few days after that for an update and they said all was good. Fingers crossed!

This is our second application. Back in 2015, we got one for our C-Max Energi the first time the state offered this rebate. They go fast because leases qualify.

My official confirmation packet arrived on Monday! :):) But the check was not included.... :( that comes later; anywhere from 30-90 days they said.
 
As one of the Texas drivers who did get the credit last year, I think it is pretty good that the state HAS an incentive, unlike MANY OTHER STATES, despite our dependence on oil & gas production. Texas also has a BIG investment in windpower, as counter-intuitive as that sounds.

The latest figure I recently read is that we're now at 15% wind generation. Turbines are still going up left & right around me here near the coast in south Texas.
 
We got our rebate about two weeks ago having submitted all the paperwork immediately after purchase in the first part of Feb. Almost every day, we see wind turbines loaded on trucks heading north on I45 north of Conroe. Those blades are big. Of course they cause cancer so be careful.

15% of all generation facilities perhaps, but it has surpassed the 50% mark of demand supplied multiple times.

They're probably a well oiled machine by now since we are probably one of the last to be approved because we got the check just 5 days later after the approval notice.
