Tesla's Shame

Where the generation comes from really doesn't matter. What matters is it is a giant waste of power to do nothing useful (it isn't Folding@Home, or calculating primes for potential mathematics uses, or ...), generates a **** ton of heat, wastes a **** ton of additional power on mitigating that heat, etc. Even if the power source was "green", it's still a massive waste and heat polluter.

Maybe that bubble will pop. Read about tulip mania.

Anyways, the clarity is an awesome car with great fit and finish. It's Honda quality, I don't need a Tesla.

With their recent purchase of significant amounts of bitcoin, and Musk's endless hawking, to me Tesla is no longer an environmentally aware company. The situation is only going to get worse. Lots of bitcoin mining uses coal fired power. I wonder if this information gets posted on Tesla boards. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-56012952

Elon doesn’t care about the environment. He cares about making money.

You also use a lot of coal fired power, so don’t go too hard on Elon.

Two confessions. One, I would have bought a Tesla if I wasn’t so worried about quality issues. Two, where we live it’s almost 100% renewables (hydro), so I also bought electric so I could smash the accelerator pedal guilt free.

This is a funny full-circle here. Back when all Teslas included free Supercharger charging for life, there was a guy who built a Bitcoin mining rig into his Tesla so he could burn Tesla's electricity to generate essentially free Bitcoins. Now Tesla is in the Bitcoin business themselves, but I don't know if they're doing any mining.
