Tesla plans to expand into India in 2019.

Understandable since the largest consumer markets in the world are the US, China, and then India.

There are other stories about this and it makes perfect sense for a variety of angles. One, there are Indians who can afford a Tesla and it is a good status symbol. Two there is a push towards electric cars in India due to pollution levels. Third, Tesla has to find new markets to sustain the increase in capacity, they have to look at all markets. Last but not least, the parent company of Jaguar is located in India and I-Pace will certainly be available in India and it makes sense to not allow a competitor advantage in any market.

With Tesla losing so much of its market share in China (due to recently imposed tariffs), it would make sense for Tesla to attempt expansion in the other high-population country which is undergoing rapid industrialization -- and that's India.

It just seems odd that the first media outlet to report this would be Business Insider, given its history of publishing outright anti-Tesla FUD from one of its so-called "reporters".

But it's possible. BI has also published stories that are neutral towards Tesla, and some that even appear to me to have a positive spin. I don't think BI has an entrenched editorial position against Tesla, it's just that they don't seem interested in exercising any editorial control over the factual accuracy or bias of what they publish.

Wikipedia's article on BI says in part:

Business Insider's CEO and Editor-In-Chief Henry Blodget... previously worked on Wall Street until he was banned for life from the securities industry because of his violations of securities laws and subsequent civil trial... Nicholas Carlson, whose past experiences include... Gawker Media's Silicon Valley gossip blog, Valleywag, is Deputy Editor.

Lack of integrity (journalistic or otherwise), and a preference for click-bait sensationalism rather than responsible reporting, seems to stem from the top at BI.

Wondering how EV’s in general will work out in durability in climates like India over the long term?

In that case, would like to see if any degradations being observed in the south/southeast like Florida & southern TX
