You will need the Vin # and the date you took possession of the car (when you put it into service in 2020). Your paid tax preparer might want to see a copy of your bill of sale and or registration since they stand behind your filing.

It is a tax credit, not a rebate.

Do a search for Form 8936 to see what information will be required.

And if you installed charging equipment, there is 30% on that as well. Form 8911.
