Splash Guard, 2025 edition

Feel free to point me at relevant threads if this has been covered. I did find some discussion, but I'm looking for the best method or work-around. Not sure correct name. Maybe called under-cover.

So the Clarity, as we know, has an unreasonable low "splash guard" if that's what it's called in the front, under the car. What I mean is that parking in a normal space with one of those curb-cut things infront, causes the car to scrape if the bumper goes over it. I don't mean driving over the curb-cut, just the front bumper coming forward enough so maybe the front wheels touch it.

Anyway, when mine was new, I had the bad fortune of parking over one with rebar that caught on my splash guard, causing the front part of it to split. See attached pic. Also I don't think it was initially flopping down at all (as it does now). I think it got bent, then repeated "touches" or scrapes when parking over a normal height curb.

Sadly, it looks like the part is $350 or more, and doesn't look simple to me to replace (I have no lift) and not really able to get under my car.

So the reason for the post:
- Does someone have a repair idea that isn't $500+ dollars? I am open to ideas like somehow sowing the two pieces back together if that makes sense.
- Is there any chance the dealer would consider this a extended warranty/hondacare item, given how low the car is. (I'm guessing no chance).

Also I don't know if the splash guard if that's the correct term is essential or more or less cosmetic. I mean now that mine is ripped, is the risk some type of debris gets into the engine or some such. I guess help understanding the risk of leaving it as-is if that's what we do would be helpful.

Anyway, thanks for thoughts. Or if this has been covered, feel free to shoot me a link to discussion.

-Dan

PS: On the off chance HondaCare would cover, I do have an active plan (I got the 8 year edition when the car was new).

Is it the undercover?

There's a couple other threads on this here:

What I did at my old house was to drive one side up on the curb in the road in front of my house. This gave me a bit of room to work under it without the hassle of dealing with jacks, jackstands, etc.

yes, wasn't sure I know the correct name. It does appear to be under-cover. And I love your creative drive up curb idea.

One more thing: I wonder aloud if normal Clarity owners can drive up to a normal curb and not scrape. It may be that way back at my first oil change they didn't put it on correctly which is why it got damaged?

I bought the car at a dealer here in Eugene and 100% of maintenance work has also been done there including oil changes. So if this was caused by them not putting it back on correctly that would be good to know. My dealer is unlikely to do any good will repairs (they haven't been honest with me in the past).

Now that you can get under the car, I would first see if I could pop the break back into alignment and if I can then glue it with gorilla glue or other flexible glue. If not then I'd make a strip of another plastic or stainless, drill 2 holes on each side, and screw it back together across the break.
