Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing well. I’ve been driving my EV for a while now and I’m thinking about ways to upgrade the battery range. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with extending the range of their EVs. When I was searching about them, I came across these articles https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/ev-2nd-hand-purchase-thoughts-uk.19359/ Kubernetes vs Docker that are quite informative. But I’d love to learn more from the community member.

Are there any specific mods, aftermarket batteries, or software updates you would recommend? I’m also interested in hearing about any experiences or tips you have regarding maintaining battery health for better performance.

Looking forward to your suggestions and experiences!

Thanks in advance!

First, your question is VERY on-topic, so it belongs in the top category, "General," not in the seldom-visited "Off-Topic" category. I'd advise you to repeat your query up in General, where more forum members will see it.

My two-cents worth: An EVs battery management system (BMS) is designed to handle a given battery, so it would be difficult to change batteries without being able to modify the BMS. EV manufacturers don't make that possible; everthing inside is propietary. When people build custom EVs based on Tesla EVs, they normally use the entire electrical/motor system without modification.

My dream is that an engineer who helped design my MINI Cooper SE's BMS will strike out on his or her own when solid-state Li-Ion batteries become a reality. That engineer will start a company that offers two options for my MINI: a battery that weighs the same as my old-fashioned battery but offers 200-mile range, and a battery that weighs much less than my old-fashioned battery and still offers the same 110-mile range as my battery. I'll take the lightweight option because I bought my MINI for fun and the lighter the funner. Even at it's portly 3,100 lbs, it's a blast to drive. Sadly, the Chinese replacement for my MINI weighs many hundreds of pounds more to achieve a 200+ mile range.
