OK, so I finally saw my first equinox outside of a dealership. A lady was charging next to me so I asked her about it. I noticed a big "dog" in the backseat. Then the "dog" lifted his head. IT WAS A FULL SIZED PIG! She tells me she was on an all day drive back home after the vet. So that means she drove her new equinox for two days with a sick pig in the back. She must really love that pig.

I have to admit that the pig was too much of a distraction to me to have a useful conversation with the owner. I hope to meet up with another Equinox owner in the future to ask more questions. I am especially curious to see what kind of range it gets in the dead of winter, and how cold affects the charging speed. My experience with the Bolt was not so good when it was bitterly cold outside.

On the other hand, if the Equinox was comfortably carrying a grown pig, that says something good about its cargo capacity. I think I caught a brief glimpse of an Equinox EV a few days ago, but it went by too fast to be 100% sure. I have hardly seen of the GM Ultium EVs here in Hilo, even though there are lots of Bolts around and GM seems to have a decent market share overall.

I think the ability to comfortably carry a grown pig should be a standard test of cargo capacity for all auto manufacturers. It tests the ventilation system too.

You'll have to tell Bjørn Nyland that counting the number of banana boxes a vehicle can hold isn't good enough anymore.
