Remove seats to detail?

Hi, I had a question about detailing.
My car is super dirty. I have a kid who plays soccer and baseball, and I play a lot of soccer too. So it just gets dirty quick and at some point I gave up trying to keep it nice and clean.

But I feel now it is time to give it the deep cleaning that it deserves.

But I would rather try to do it myself than pay someone. I don't mind acquiring whatever detailing tools are needed.

I saw a YouTube video about detailing where he actually removed all the seats in order to clean the floor under them. I think this would make it a lot easier to also clean the area between the car door and seat.

But... does anyone know if it is possible to remove the seats myself? I've never tried that before.

You didn't say if you have the manual seats or the more complicated and heavier electric seats of the Touring trim. Of course, both of them are armed with explosive airbags, so you'll want to disconnect the battery first.

You didn't say if you have the manual seats or the more complicated and heavier electric seats of the Touring trim. Of course, both of them are armed with explosive airbags, so you'll want to disconnect the battery first.

Oh my bad. I didn't realize there were manual seats. Mine are not manual. They are electronic.

And I didn't know they had air bags in them too.

Ok thanks, I'll take a look at those links. The seat does seem heavy and like it would be hard to remove due to that and the connections.

I wonder if there is a powerful vacuum that can get down into small crevices though. The weather is dry here often and so a lot of things from nature get down in between the seat and the door bottom ledge. Like little bits of dried leaves, seeds of all sorts, etc, and of course dirt, and I think they will be difficult to get out. It would be so much easier if I could remove the seat.

Have you ever been to a car wash? They have powerful vacuums and compressed air hoses with nozzles. A fancy trick is to blow the dust out and vacuum it up at the same time.

Going forward, it may be beneficial to practice “an ounce of prevention” and dust off, remove the cleats and even change out of the dirty clothes before entering the car

I've done it myself before, it's really easy. All seat bolts are to be torqued to 30 ft lbs, but you should be okay with "common sense" tightness
