Rear Hatch Door closes without command

Occasionally the rear hatch door closes just after opening. It gets nearly full open then reverses and closes. Just enough time to stick you head under and it starts down. Can't figure any logic to it, just randomly happens.

Occasionally the rear hatch door closes just after opening. It gets nearly full open then reverses and closes. Just enough time to stick you head under and it starts down. Can't figure any logic to it, just randomly happens.

I found this on another forum.

It is common on all cars with these type of rear hatched. Happens normally when it gets colder and the viscosity of the liquid in the struts gets thicker. This causes more resistance and the car ‘senses’a problem.

Fix is that next time it does this, reopen the hatch, when it has stopped press and hold the button again until it beeps. Did this for mine last winter and it has been perfect since.
