Folks: The manual and some of you describe the presence of a "browser" as one of the infotaintment apps. However, others like me lack that "browser". I have seen somewhere here that there is some sort of hidden process, secret handshake or the like to "reveal" the browser but I have no idea of how to do that. Would it required that dreaded HondaHack that somebody said could brick my unit?
Moreover, I have no idea of what that browser does. Is it a web browser for using while connected to WiFi or something allowing to navigate through the Android file system/USB drives and/or installing apps? In any case, does it help at all?
Thank you,

It's not exactly hidden. https://photos.app.goo.gl/wU2yvHn1161Y89ex8
If you haven't moved all the icons onto the one screen, it's just like any other Android tablet. Swipe left and right across the different screens until you find the apps button (circle with the dots grid in it), tap it, and there's the browser.

All web browsers can navigate the file system. Click file:///c:/Program Files (or file:///usr/bin on Linux) file:// is just another protocol like http://

EDIT: Never mind. The forum software is utterly effing stupid and insists on stuffing an http:// before those links even if I manually edit them in bbcode. Type them in manually and they'll work.

It's definitely not there by default on my 2019. I believed Honda updated the software sometime show that it no longer shows up. I can make it manually show up by going through the secret menus, but it'll disappear after every reboot.

Thank you. Sorry, the reason I asked the question is because I did exactly that and there was no "browser" under the "apps" button, only Calculator and HondaLink. Nor it appears in any other screen.

Mine is 2018 although I bought it this January. What are the secret menus?

Thanks,

This video shows you how to get the browser.

Thanks for the video!
So everything revolves around that "Android restriction" set. Anyway, I will discreetly explore that secret menu to find out what else may be of use. Have a nice weekend!

I just had a big scare today. I followed the instructions in the video and I was finally able to open the browser. Then I closed it and tried to return to play music and found out it wouldn't play anything but just opened the browser window again. I tried turning the car off/on, same thing. Only after resetting the system (long-pressing the audio button) it showed an "Audio Apps" window that I never saw before and then after pressing that, the old audio reappeared. Lesson learned, I will stop tinkering with the car and just enjoy it 'as is'...
