Has this happened to anybody, the planned charging is set and yet it doesn’t happen at the set time?

Have set my charging at 9:00pm to avail of the low rate, yet as you can see on the time stamp it is already 9:42 and charging is still planned?

Is it because the SOC is still at 86%?IMG_7952.webp

Since the 'charge in time slot' feature requires a departure time to be activated, the time charging actually begins depends on the departure time and the car's SOC.

If the departure time is within the charge window, it will aim to reach 100% SOC shortly before the planned departure time.

If the departure time is over 30 minutes beyond the end of the charge window (I think), it will begin charging immediately when the charge window begins.

I found that doesn't work anymore, which makes me very sad. I've played around and no matter what I do the SE seems to now always back-calculate start time from departure time. For example, if departure is set for 07:30 and it will take 3.5 hours to charge, the SE won't start charging until around 04:00 even if the charge window starts at 21:00.

I've resorted to setting my departure time to 01:00-01:30 to get my SE to start charging near the 21:00 start of my window.

Hmmm, this is interesting, but sounds more likely; they keep on changing the algorithm on things.

I played with it last night, I found out that after I remotely unlock the SE, it started to charge.

This is really interesting.IMG_7953.webp

Similarly, if I charge in the window from 9pm to 5am, if I open the door when it is still plugged in at 8am, it will start charging.

I always leave my SE unlocked (parked in a garage), perhaps MINI changed something where door lock state is part of the trigger. Or maybe the SE needs something to happen to "wake up". I'll have to play around with it next week (I get low-cost charging all weekend).

Putting on my Engineer Hat, it seems reasonable that charging in a time slot is expected to be a "only do this at home" and/or "only do this when the car is expected to be parked for awhile" activity. So locking/unlocking the doors or opening a door would indicate that one or both of those expectations is not true--either the car isn't "at home" or the driver needs to leave at a different time than was scheduled. Therefore, overriding the time slot and charging immediately seems like the most reasonable response to make sure the car gets as much charge as it can as quickly as it can.

Of course, I'm just speculating and have no idea if the BMW/MINI engineers considered that at all. <removes Engineering Hat>
