Optimize battery life

We only charge the battery to 80% unless we are anticipating a longer trip. In summer weather this gives us about 250 miles of range. We normally recharge when the range gets to be less than 100 miles.

I am wondering for optimum battery life if we would be better off to charge every night to 80%

Would it be worth the slight inconvenience of plugging the car in every night, or is it actually worse for the battery?

I'd say stop worrying about your battery. You're already babying it by charging to only 80% most of the time. Don't let that battery take over your life. (It's midnight and you can't get to sleep because you didn't remember until now to charge your battery that's already 60% fully charged. So you go out in you pajamas in the rain to plug in your I5 and hopefully extend the life of your battery by another day.)

The battery in one of my gen-1 Honda Insight hybrids went bad two months after the 8-year warranty expired. Fortunately, that event didn't give me permanent traumatic battery-anxiety (PTBA).

My MINI Cooper SE's EPA range is only 110 miles, so I follow the ABC plan: "Always Be Charging." MINI didn't provide a way to stop charging at 80%. They know that nobody would want to charge to just 70 miles. If Hyundai ships more than a dozen Ioniq 6 cars to the US, I might get one to replace my Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid (which I also always fully charge).

Besides capping the capacity to 80% and garage keep it when the temperature drop below 0C (32F), what else do I need to keep in mind to ensure the battery is in good condition?

I heard that you need to charge to 100% occasionally to keep it healthy? Can someone verify that?

Ioniq Forum agrees with the Owners Manual's advice to charge your I5 to 100% occasionally to keep it healthy.
 
Charge to 80% avoid going below 20% as much as possible, charge to 100% once a month, minimize use of fast chargers.
