I can't answer your question right off, but I did find this video (below) which can explain what, exactly, OVMS is and how it may assist their electric vehicle ownership experience. It's 30 minutes, but the presentation is nicely done. Hopefully, it will help and maybe people with the right expertise can then answer your question.
