Navigation controller/joystick doesn't return to center

Not sure if this has happened to anyone here, but the navigation controller in my SE has become somewhat clunky and doesn't click/spring back to the center after I tilt it to the left or right. I've never spilled anything on it. Does anyone know a fix to it?

Scott Rods had a soda spilled on/in his and was able to clean/restore it.

I had an issue with mine and it turned out to be some foreign object that got underneath the knob, brushed it out and it works fine.
