Myriad issues after software recall, what have you experienced?

Had my '23 SE in the shop for the battery software recall in early December. When I got it back the ambient lighting stopped remembering what color I set it to, my key no longer tells the car I'm driving after my wife gets in with her key, and I can no longer connect phones via CarPlay. I verified that iOS and/or the phone is likely not the issue with that last one, my phone connected just fine to three other cars through wired and wireless and none of the four phones I've tried to connect to my Mini are working, regardless of what version of iOS they're on.

I've seen a few other posts about issues post-update, what else should I be on the lookout for? before I take it back to the dealer to try and resolve all of these problems?

I don't get notifications from CarPlay when in MINI screens anymore. Previously the infotainment screen would switch to CarPlay to show the notification and then switch back. Now I get no notification if I'm not on the CarPlay display.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I don't use CarPlay (or Bimmercode), so once I reset the various changes I had made in the car's software, all is as it was before.

I don't use iPhones so I cannot add to the car play aspect. My bimmer code for the seat belt warning sound not going off is still there. I had to redo some of the lock settings and such, but I noticed nothing else out of the usual for a software update. My ambient light had changed as usual, but I put it back in disco mode and it hasn't struggled to remember it. I've had my car back since December 26th so I think I probably would have noticed all the issues by now. Good luck getting yours figured out!

It seems that the recall software update, for some unknown reason, requires the dealer to disconnect the 12v battery. Everything you saved is lost.

Seems this could be a change to iOS 18, nothing to do with the MINI recall (or my repair). I tested in my F-150 Lightning and have the same changed behavior, plus I found this Apple community post (although it's anecdotal):

I was told today by an Apple Senior Advisor that the CarPlay text pop up box was REMOVED with the 18 update.

The air recirculation also stopped working, it shuts off after about 60 seconds no matter what I do. Can't connect my phone via bluetooth anymore, either. Taking it in to the dealer on Friday for a look!

Mine has done this since day 1. I suspect it’s so it doesn’t fog up the windows, which would happen easily this time of year.

I’ve also learned to back up all settings onto a usb drive before taking it to the dealer. It’s quick and easy so I do not understand why the dealer doesn’t just do it before updating anything.

Yeah, this should be standard protocol!
