When we got our EVs we signed up to a new energy supplier on a tariff which guaranteed (as far as they can) that 100% of our electricity was from renewable sources. I’d love to get solar panels, and we’re currently getting ready to sell our properties and buy a new place, so maybe when we move I’ll look into it to se if it would be worthwhile. A “free” charge always feels good and knowing that you collected the energy yourself (kinda) must be a good feeling.
The energy issues we’re facing here in the UK are just insane, and they started well before the invasion of Ukraine. So many providers have gone under in the past year and prices are due to spike. They say the average dual fuel energy bill is going to be over £3k per year later this year which is about double what they were. We fixed our tariff last yearly until March 24, but a means of generating and storing our own energy would be ideal.
