The mobile jack from the first gen (and i'm sure 2nd gen as well) Cooper hardtop works great for jacking up our 3rd gen MINIs. It's pretty cool and winds all the way up pretty fast. I got one in nice condition on EBay for $50.
It's a great thing to throw in your trunk just as a backup if you ever need to jack up the car and get a tire fixed on the road. Or, cheap solution if you just want to rotate tires on same side and inspect brakes, suspension, etc in your driveway.
It will lift both wheels off the ground if you wind it all the way up.
