That’s the great modern car scam in action: they sell you the car, then try to rent you the steering wheel. The $5.99 tier (“Care”) really is kind of a joke—basically “Lite with a pulse.” You pay $72 a year and still don’t get the features that people actually want Kia Connect for:
  • No remote start or climate (the one thing people love in winter/summer)

  • No camera view or digital key (what, too futuristic for six bucks?)

  • No real-time traffic, no EV route planning, no live charger status
What you do get in Care:

  • Vehicle health reports

  • Maintenance scheduling and service alerts

  • Roadside assistance integration

  • Vehicle diagnostic alerts (like a slightly fancier check-engine light)

  • Trip info, driving history logs
It’s basically Kia charging you for data that the car already knows, but dressing it up with a “subscription” bow.

Canceling it makes sense if you don’t care about the handful of extra alerts and reports. Many EV6 owners on the forums say the only tier worth paying for is Ultimate ($199/year), because it’s the first one that actually gives you remote start, climate, and EV-specific navigation features. Otherwise, Lite (free) gives you enough to survive, and the rest is fluff.
 
This seems to be pretty normal these days, unfortunately. volvo, gmc, and others all give you basics with the app, but if you want remote start, you gotta pay for it. BMW even started offering subscription heated seats. It's rediculous.

All we can do is vote with out wallets and NOT pay for it, and maybe they will realize that consumers don't want that. bake it in to the price.
