Hyundai Prophecy Concept looks hot!

Hyundai revealed an electric sports sedan and it looks pretty sharp: the Prophecy Concept EV.

It was supposed to debut at the canceled Geneva Motor Show but they did the release online around the beginning of March.

I've heard the word Porsche mentioned by more than a few people discussing the exterior design and I can see some similarities to the Taycan and 911 in some elements, but the inspiration is supposed to be shapes from the 1920s and 1930s. I think it stands on its own pretty well. I especially like the rear.

The interior is most notable in that it lacks a steering wheel. It's not an autonomous vehicle, though. It's just that they've gone with a sort of joystick-type mechanism.

There isn't a whole lot of information about the drivetrain. We do know, because a month after the initial reveal, they've just released a bit more info and photos, that it is built using the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), Hyundai's first ground-up EV chassis. Interesting to keep in mind that Hyundai is partnered with Rimac Automobili, which is an EV technology company with its own electric supercar.

I wouldn't be surprised if this got greenlit for production. Though, it would probably get a traditional steering wheel and, of course, it would probably have a B pillar and the "suicide doors" would open like most.

I love the look of this car a lot, but what gets me even more is the story behind the creation of the car. I can't imagine this ever making it to market, though. The lack of a steering wheel is a huge aspect of their design mentality for the interior of the car, but are drivers ready for that?

I think it would need a traditional wheel to meet regulations. Still, they could go that way and keep that sexy exterior shape.

The glamor shots are beautiful and serve at least to not interrupt the appreciation of the over all water bead imagry of the body shape. None of us will make it past the first officer with tint as such but I'm wondering what the cost of a 2 mph rear bump up would be? I love the pixel theme but we could all agree if the entire surface were pixels it wouldn't look even close to the elegance that the body panel and glass work does. They need to bring back those body designers to finish the rear as beautifully with the pixel themed lights garnishing and not dominating this supplant sculpture. I will have to see the front headlights operating but something tells me there is some unfinished technology there which may give way to a balance more like that of the IONIQ 5.

I can live with a steering wheel, but the Ioniq 6 needs to look just like the gorgeous Prophecy. Sadly, the chances of the Ioniq 6 looking like the Prophecy are about the same as the Ioniq 6 not having a steering wheel.
