Hyundai Kona Electric Challenges

Consumer Reports' recent reporting of the Kona Electric's customer satisfaction/reliability ratings saddened me because I believe the responsible issues are more Hyundai's than the Electric's. So much so that I've written an article explaining why:

Were the issues Consumer Reports flagged only about the battery issue and recall? That was unquestionably botched, as your article notes. Or were there other problems as well?

Motor noise, battery fires and niggling software failures that don't merit so much as a Press release from Hyundai/KIA USA prompted the CR missive.

It's my suspicion that the Kona/Niro platform was a low volume test case (or stopgap product) for the EGMp rollout.

The car is more than adequate.

Hyundai or KIA support is inevident. A great warranty that cannot be enforced by the owner isn't a warranty - it's a marketing ploy.
