Did you ever notice a heat pump is running with extreme hot weather on DC charging Bc my I 3 start a heat pump at 95 F on L2 .Bc I don’t charge on DC SE I would love to know if this happened or nobody really never notice . My SE as I charged recently in 95 F never start automatically heat pump

DCFC in the summer here in the Midwest often our heat pump kicks in, presumably to cool the battery?

I have noticed that when it does, we lose cooling in the car. I assumed that was normal, but maybe not.

When charging in 90+F weather where I live using a 120V plug, in a closed garage, an extra fan often comes on.

I just wander why if you charge as slow on 120 volts shouldn’t generate much heat but better if a car responds correctly to protect HV battery as I said before my I 3 start at 95’ F. Cooling battery system As I have SE now I never heard any cooling fan when the highest temperature in garage was 80’ F on L2 faster charging and I believe as you charge on DC fast those cooling system in hot weather running constantly for good reason.

Is the heat pump what makes the buzzing noise near drivers side wheel? That comes on about 10 mins into DC charging every-time no matter the weather here in SoCal. If I’m sitting in the car I can feel a random jolt when something comes on for cooling I’m guessing.

My 2022 SE was never charged on DC yet only L2 so far

I believe that's a cooling fan for the high voltage batteries (it will come on for me after a long drive sometimes), whereas the heat pump is for controlling temperature inside the cabin.

It is currently 98F outside now, and my car is charging in the garage on the 120V plug with max charge. There's a steady fan noise coming from the car. Periodically, there is a very whiny (whinging?) noise that comes on which is located at the drivers' side wheel. I don't normally charge at this time, but my commute has increased from 14 miles round trip to 70 miles.

What a joy this car is to drive, even in traffic!

95, extreme hot weather? My cooling often kicks in towards the end of a L2 charge and quickly on DC. My car seems to manage cabin and battery cooling at the same time, though definitely not full cabin cooling. Only really noticeable when it is 100+. The heat pump sounds like a quiet fridge when at the front of the car.
