Honda Clarity / Chevy Volt comparison review

InsideEVs had a post covering this comparison review with the Chevy Volt and the Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid this morning. (The Volt is not made anymore, but a quick search brought up 50 new examples still for sale around the country).

Anyway, I thought I'd leave it here for those dropping by that might want a nice comparison of the two. It seemed mostly pretty good, aside from the fact the reviewer seems to think the cars each have two electric drive motors. *shrug emoji

 
@0:33, the gauge shows a 70% charge with a 21 mile range or 30 miles total EV range if that GOM is accurate (I know, I know, there are many reasons why it's low). If that reflects battery degradation after less than 20K miles, the owner probably took poor care of the battery.

Wait - If you you have 21 miles left after using only 30% of your charge, that is a 70 mile total EV range... 21/0.3 = 70
That seems too good, but then again, most of us are totally unfamiliar with the Volt instrumentation !

21 is 70% of 30.

Missed that. Strange though. Those screen shots were taken indoors (seriously, look at the background outside the windshield). Does the Volt provide weather information instead of the actual temperature around the car?

If you bring the car inside from very cold temperatures, the next time it's powered up the Volt will actually report the cold temperature it experienced before shutdown for a couple of minutes before actually reporting from its sensors.
This was the source of some anguish to owners who found the engine starting due to a reported low temperature that was literally in the past.
