Honda Clarity - check current kW charging speed?

Hi All,

I am a very happy Clarity owner. I am very lucky to have a free level 2 charger at work (chargePoint) and also installed a level 2 charger at home.

Is there anyway to tell what kW the car is currently charging at via the car dash or Honda app?

I ask as I installed a non-wifi enabled level 2 charger at home (Siemens US2:VC30GRYU) and there is no way that I have found to tell what kW speed I am getting. The product documentation said it can charge up to 7.2kW. I followed the manual and had the electrician install a dedicated 2-pole, 40 Amp breaker. I also did not adjust the internal amperage dial, just left it at default. - so hope it is defaulted to max.

I am just very curious on how I can tell the current kW speed when I am on chargers that are not app/wifi enabled. Thoughts?

I think you would have to install a power meter on the EVSE. I don't think the App says charging speed. Your worst case on L2 with 240 V should be 6.6 kW, if your voltage was as low as 220 V. Public chargers might be 208 V, which would be 6.2 kW at 30 A.

If you get a full charge in just over 2 hours you are probably fine. The last 20 min of charge it doesn't do much, probably cell balancing. Cold temps will drop the rate lower. In my attached unheated garage I never saw less than 4 kW or so.

Great! Appreciate the details that help
