High temperature?

Installed the screen today. I opted to use the 4, provided zip ties by installing 2 on each end. One high, one low and added 2 additional ties below the license plate. It did tuck in behind the license plate holder without modification.

Overall it should decrease the likelihood of an object damaging the radiator. The fit and finish left a bit to be desired. It is doubtful anyone will even notice the screen. Something similar could be fashioned for the opening below the driver side headlight. I may give it a go after the flesh wound on the wrist heals.

My ClarityScreen arrived yesterday, but it didn't come with zip ties. If more than you were supplied is better, then I'm OK with buying a pack. And for yet another reason, I'm happy Michigan doesn't require front license plates!

Steve, of the VoltShop, replied to my concern about this additional vulnerability:

That little vent is a potential issue but due to the smaller area, less so than the grill itself. I have looked at it, but as you noted, there isn't much to connect a screen to. It is on my list for future items, but has to wait for now. Summer will be a time to work on it, and when I have something, I will certainly let everyone know.

How have you survived without a supply of zip ties thus far?

The front license plate is one of the least visually disturbing aspects of the front end. It looks like Honda had some sort of “Inclusivity seminar” and allowed every designer to include their “great idea” into the final design. How I wish Acura had produced the car.

Four zip ties would hold the screen in place. I used six, plus it is tucked in behind the front license plate holder.

There is a horizontal strip of plastic a few inches in front of the radiator. Removing some of the aerodynamic underbody components should allow some access to attach a screen in front of the radiator.

I agree that it would be unlikely for a rock or other piece of debris to squeak through that opening and strike the radiator with sufficient force to cause damage, but then again, we all know how frequently those unlikely things happen.

I guess I might have to accept it because otherwise I still need to find a nearby garage and have my car towed there, yet, knowing the fact, they might not give me a good quote either.
How can anything hit the radiator without damaging the front of my car? I never heard anything while I was driving, can they be bluffing me?

The battery and electronics cooling circuits operate under very low pressure (unlike engine cooling circuit).
I would think you would have to hit something big and would see damage to the radiator to cause a significant leak or loss of coolant.
In fact, the mechanic would have to see damage to blame the issue on road debris.
Did the dealership show you the damaged part?
 
I got my screen, but I can't figure out how to run the zip tie through and get it back out to connect. How did you guys do it?

I tucked the screen in behind the license plate holder which held it in place. Then looked to determine which openings in the screen lined up best with the existing grill, I was able to pull the bottom of the screen away from the car and work the zip-ties in and out with my fingers. The instructions suggest needle nose pliers.

I did not run the tips of the zip-ties through the heads until all ties were in place. Then I pushed the screen into place to check the fit. Once satisfied, the ties were secured and the ends were trimmed off.

Thanks. I don't have a front license plate holder - MI doesn't require them, but I was able to do the rest of what you said and get it fastened. It was pretty easy once I saw how to do it.
 
I had a lot of trouble with the zip ties until I figured out the screen was flexible enough to allow me to lift each side and slide the zip ties through the screen, around the grille and back through the screen again.
 
All - I installed VoltShop's Clarity Grill Screen today but with some slight modification from the instructions provided as follows:
- I removed the front License plate mount before installing the grill screen; for my car, the license plate mount once installed back actually helps keep the grill screen in place.
- Instead of using the included zipties, I opted to install using 4 small black screws in each corner, which keeps the screen flush to the car.

Overall, it looks like it was installed from the factory and seems like a worthy upgrade to one of the known weak spots of the Clarity. I also agree that the little vent under the Drivers side headlight could pose a problem so let me know if anyone has figured out a solution for protecting this area.
