I have just bought a used 2024 Kona SEL yesterday. The total miles on the car was just 6k miles and pricing was quite low so we thought that we had a very good deal.

But we have just drove about 150 miles (yesterday and today without charging), and the full charged battery ran out and we are charging it now.

At the full charge it was saying more than 280 miles that we can drive, but having just drive about half of what it says makes me wonder this used car's battery is ok.

We have used heater at 72oF while outside weather is about 35oF. It was mostly day time where we did not have to use head light so not sure what could make the batter running out that fast.

I am completely newbie on EV, and any comments would be really appreciated.

the full charged battery ran out
How did you get home?

The EPA's laboratory range rating for the 2024 Kona EV is 200 miles, but how far you can actually go depends on hills, wind, temperature, precipitation, and how you drive. It's unlikely that a 2024 EV with only 6K miles has used up its battery.

Note @ChiSang quoted he purchased an SEL trim which has a range of 261 miles EPA c/w 64.8 kWh pack.
The SE version has a range of 200 miles EPA c/w the smaller 48.6 kWh pack,(scroll to 200 and 261 in the chart right column).
The smaller pack is not available in Canada.
I suspect the mileage will increase to estimated or better as the weather warms up- depending on of course the factors you mentioned above.

Battery can easily be checked using an app such as Car Scanner and an appropriate OBD2 dongle.
I would also strongly suggest anyone purchasing a used EV check using the device before purchase;)

You should also get more accurate readings once the car gets used to your driving patterns and recalibrates the estimated range based on your driving...as opposed to the previous I've found both generations of Kona I have owned provide very accurate range estimates.
