Which is precisely why I went with a Kona over a Tesla....well one of the many reasons, but a big one.

The latest version of Tesla firmware detects active modifiers to the CANbus. So the firmware issues a warning and may do something more dramatic in the future. This is just the usual conflict between sellers and buyers who want more. For example, Rich Rebuilds who found SuperCharger access was turned off on a rebuilt but not Tesla certified car.

Bottom line is if you purchased the car, you should be able to do with it as you please (as long as it is legal). Now the super charger access might be the one exception to this.
