Good night MINI

**Ode to the MINI Cooper SE's Winter Rest**

Goodnight, MINI, tucked away,
In your cozy, quiet bay.
The roads are cold, the skies are gray,
But soon the sun will light the way.

Your wheels once spun with joyful sound,
On streets where freedom knows no bound.
Now wrapped in blankets soft and deep,
You settle in for winter's sleep.

Goodnight, tires, snug and still,
No more the rush, the twist, the thrill.
The engine hums a whispered sigh,
As snowflakes fall from cloudy sky.

Goodnight, dashboard, sleek and bright,
Your glow will fade in fading light.
But come the spring, with warming sun,
We'll race again, two hearts as one.

For now, you rest, a dream serene,
A tiny giant, strong and keen.
In time, the frost will bid goodbye,
And we'll return, beneath blue sky.

Goodnight, MINI, small but bold,
Your spirit's warmth will never fold.
Until the days of sun arise,
We'll meet again, beneath the skies.

Today, the last nice day before forecasted snow, I switched my wheels.

My winter tires are now in place
Their lesser grip will slow my pace
But when the flakes begin to fall
My mighty MINI will conquer all

The snow may cover inches deep
Still forging forward I will creep
Traction control preventing spin
Moving on with discipline

So warm inside, the cold I cheat
Trading miles for thermal heat
But driving fun I need not miss
Great handling brings me constant bliss

Remembering past winters' bane
This car prevents one source of pain
Defying all the weather charts
My engineless MINI always starts

Photo from the frigid, post-ice storm day my MINI took me to the Michigan Wolverines' National Football Championship parade.

Tyres that actually grip cold, icy and frigid roads are so good. My favourite trick in any FWD car is cruising past the stuck idiots in 4WD SUVs shod with summer tyres. They always look so dumbfounded.

The SE is a fantastic winter driver with snow tires. With the low center of gravity, near 50-50 weight distribution, and regenerative breaking I've never had better control in a vehicle during winter.

(Studs and chains are illegal in my state, so I've never driven with them.)

I have chains left over from a previous vehicle. If I ever need them in addition to my Nokians, the police will be way too busy to ticket me...
