Fed tax credit

How can I ensure that the dealer hasnt claimed it.
Dealer sent me the title in three weeks but somewhere I read make sure that the dealer hasnt registered the car initially . I dont know how to verify that.

the only thing i found in this forum is :

From Form 8936, you'll need:
1) Year, make and model of vehicle
2) VIN
3) Date vehicle was placed in service

If you purchased the vehicle, it should be registered in your name. The dealer can't claim the credit if you purchased.

If you leased the vehicle, then the dealer (actually the finance company who owns the lease) gets to file for the credit.

The date you placed it in service is the day you drove it off the lot.
